Jay Foote has recorded and toured with The Welcome Wagon, Diane Birch, Julia Nunes, Matt Bauer, Jaymay, Trixie Whitley, King Wilkie and Andrew Rose Gregory and the Color Red Band.
He performs regularly in New York City with Peter Bradley Adams, Mike Dragovic, Clarence Bucaro, Zach Williams and The Bellow, Ambrosia Parsley, Foley Stewart, Josh Charles, Jason Loughlin Trio, Austin McCutchen, Pete Sinjin and Jon DiVello.
National TV appearances include The Late Show with David Letterman, Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, Conan (on TBS), Carson Daly, Craig Ferguson, Jimmy Kimmel, Ellen, NBC's Today Show with Kathy Lee and CBS Saturday Morning. Other nationally broadcast performances include television shows in Canada, Italy, and Japan. Foote has performed at the Bonneroo Music Festival, Fuji Rock Festival (Japan), Greenbelt Festival (UK), SingFest (Singapore) and has played the historic Ryman Theater in Nashville, TN and Levon Helm’s Midnight Ramble in Woodstock, NY. He has performed on the NPR programs Mountain Stage and World Cafe Live.
Foote is in demand session musician on both electric and acoustic basses. His acoustic playing is featured supporting Jaymay in the feature film “Happythankyoumoreplease.” His bass playing appears on several commercials and on the theme to CBS’s ‘This Morning with Charlie Rose’. His production credits include The Welcome Wagon’s new album ‘Precious Remedies’, Spark and Echo’s self-titled debut, Richard McGraw’s ‘Burying The Dead’ and Diane Birch’s ‘iTunes Live Sessions’.
Foote has two instrumental music records out under his own name. In 2006, Budd Kopman from allaboutjazz.com named “UBUNTU!” one of the best jazz records of the year.
