Jay Foote is a bassist, producer, and musical director whose work spans Broadway, television, recording studios, and concert stages.

An upright, electric, and synth bassist, producer, musical director, and harmony singer, Jay has performed in more than 800 Broadway shows, including Hamilton, Waitress, Dear Evan Hansen, The Band’s Visit, Tootsie, Amélie, and Mean Girls. His collaborations include Madison Cunningham, Sufjan Stevens, The Lone Bellow, Peter Bradley Adams, Adam Melchor, and Diane Birch. He has produced 12 albums, recorded across songwriter, folk, rock, jazz, and instrumental music, and appeared on national television programs including Letterman, Conan, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen, the Today Show, and CBS Saturday Morning. Based in Iowa since 2020, Jay performs and records with artists including Bo Ramsey, Deb Talan, James Tutson, The Wellpennies, and the Des Moines Symphony.
